For as long as I can remember music has been around me. From my first portable CD player, treasured greatly, to my travels overseas busking and working on music festivals. Music has always been a massive part of my life. It has guided and opened me up to so many opportunities and experiences.
This year I decided to see how far I could take the concept of music being all around to a new level.
I started recording the sounds surrounding me and manipulated these to produce music almost exclusively from found sounds and non-traditional musical sources, birdsong, rain, a fire, and washing the dishes.
By extracting frequencies from natural sounds, recordings of the day-to-day become sweeping soundscapes of drones and melodies.
These recordings, captured over the past year, highlight the beauty that exists within the apparently banal.
