Manawa
Youth Artist
Tena tatau Katoa, Ko Hikurangi te maunga, Ko Waiapu te awa, Ko Ngati Porou te iwi, Tihei mauri ora!
My name is Manawa which means heart and represents my Kuia’s Love for me when I was a baby.
I’ve always been passionate about Te Ao Puoro (The world of music) since a young age, even before I was diagnosed with autism and adhd. These magical parts of me can sometimes be challenging but I like to think of them as taonga tukuiho (sacred gifts handed down from my tipuna) that have helped me along my journey.
I grew up in a small town called Ruatoria on the EC of NZ and fully immersed in Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga.
Today, I’m a drummer in a up and coming new band called A-Trax fresh from performing at Summer Frequencies. In my spare time love doing Manu’s, surfing, Sk8Parks, Hanging with Whanau, Drumming and Travelling can usually find me most weekends watching live gigs at Smash Palace. For the Earth Beat festival I will be performing solo doing drum covers from our band, local and International bands.
I look forward to meeting you all and sharing my passion with the Earth Beat whanau!
