Deep Ecology – Emergence of Hope in Meta-Crisis
Maya Nova
“Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.” Vāclav Havel
Every crisis is also an opportunity for transformation. The way forward needs to be guided by our wise, awakened humanity. We cannot download the solutions from the past and the very paradigm that is the cause of the meta-crisis. As Jiddu Krishnamurti said: “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” Before seeking solutions, we need to rest deep in the state of presence, without avoidance, without agenda and open to the full scope of what is unfolding on our planet now. To speak the truth, to listen to the truth, to express our fears and grief, our pain and despair, our hope and longing. And to then enter into a state of collective presence, silence and stillness. To sit alone, together, and hold space for the emergence. To seek comfort and inspiration in what’s best in human nature – our love and care, our wisdom, creativity and resourcefulness.
I have been holding space for the awakening of human potential over the last couple of decades. This work works in parallel with my own intimate and practical journey of healing and awakening. As an activist, as a Buddhist nun, as a mother and friend, as mentor, teacher and leadership coach, my work is the nourishment and awakening of human consciousness. By inviting the deep to the surface and letting it guide us, we hold space for the flourishing of our human potential.
