Guided Intro to Indian Head Massage
Hannah Tapner
Giving and receiving massage is a wonderful way to connect with ourselves and others. In a group dynamic this connectivity is heightened, becoming a beautiful sharing and warm experience. In pairs the group will be guided through a simple, introductory routine of Indian Head massage – massaging the shoulders, neck and head. Pairs switch half way, so everyone will give and receive! (Massage is done over clothes). Indian head massage (IHM) also known as champissage, was brought to the west by Narendra Mehta in the 1970s. Normally an IHM is given seated in a chair and involves different massage techniques and pressure-points to help release tension of head, neck and face.
