Movement Medicine
Morag Brownlie
Morag has a background in Contemporary Dance, Choreography and Film making. She has developed a variety of exercises that are a fun way to get into the body and to move as an individual and as a group. Movement can change your physical, emotional, mental (and therefore) spiritual state. Movement can help prevent disease and reverse chronic conditions. Movement is Life – connecting with others is Life. Non-verbal communication through movement, connects us to each other on subtle levels. This workshop will provide a fun, playful and energising exploration of movement culminating in improvisational movement meditation. There will be Individual, Duo and Group exercises. Some tips of healing will be shared along the way through simple body activations/stretches and mudras. There will be an offering to do a pop-up improvisation at a decided time later at the Festival.
Morag has a varied background as a Filmmaker, Choreographer, Costume Designer and Performer. Morag was a core creative on The World of Wearable Art for over a decade. She trained in Contemporay, African and Polynesian dance and Dance Theater. Through her time as a Choreographer and Director she has developed fun interactive movement workshops. Recognizing the transformative power of movement has lead Morag to call this offering Movement Medicine.
